[News] Windows Phone Marketplace surges in Apps, now over 126,000!

Windows Phone Marketplace
Microsoft's Windows Phone Marketplace is now home to more than 126,000 applications with a daily rate of more than 215 apps being added every day. Out of those 126,000 apps, 113,170 are able to be downloaded across 60 countries (101,517 are currently live in the US Marketplace), according to AAWP (All About Windows Phone). The Windows Phone Marketplace (back then it was called Marketplace) launched in late 2010 along with the then-new Windows Phone 7.
The Windows Marketplace has more than doubled in apps since their 50,000 app mark in December last year. This is, of course, in no comparison to the current app-surging iOS and Android systems, but the quality of the apps (on Windows Marketplace) also replace some of Android's not-so-good-quality apps that they have.

Another great surge in the Windows Phone Marketplace is that they have about 30,000 developers contributing to the Marketplace, and that it does show that developers are interested in the Windows Marketplace platform. Another thing that you should know is that Windows Marketplace has managed to hit the 125,000 mark faster (in 20 months) than Android, which took 26 months to get there. But then again, Apple's App Store got to the 125,000 milestone in just under 19 months! Impressive!

As mentioned above, the daily rate of apps published to the Windows Marketplace is at around 215 apps. AAWP also states that this number has decreased in the recent months. We think that this may be because developers are preparing for the launch of Windows Phone 8.
