[News] Apple WWDC 2012

Apple's WWDC 2012 starts on June 11 and goes on for 4 days. Announced on April 25 2012, the WWDC extravaganza had sold out in just two hours as 5000 developers made-up $1,600 each to attend the event. The company has made a cool $8 million. So, what can we expect from this year's show? Read on for more info!

WWDC is all about the developers. This would mean Apple is focusing on future updates, software releases, mainly about iOS 6, Mountain Lion and the addition of new dev-friendly hooks into iCloud. With betting people are now favoring a 2013 launch for the self-branded Apple TV, the much-improved MacBook (will it be "Air"?) 15" will be the hardware 'Super-star' of the show. Mountain Lion could be made available as a public-beta, while the company tests the integration between the new OS and the future iOS 6. Be aware that the iPhone 5 will not be announced here this year.

    The Keynote

The keynote has not been announced yet, but let's face it, there probably will be one. Tim Cook, Phil Schiller and Scott Forstall may take a moment to utter a "farewell" to their company's co-founder, Steve Jobs, who traditionally led the WWDC keynote.

    Mountain Lion

Mountain Lion is currently in beta-testing among developers and is the next edition of OS X. The new software integrates some of the features you'd expect something across the iPad.

The OS includes the new Messages app, Notes, Reminders, Game Center, Notification Center, Share Sheets, support for AirPlay mirroring. Developers will get new Game Kit APIs, improved graphics support, video and core Animation calls and the very much-improved support for MultiTouch. Gatekeeper security and iCloud integrations

    iCloud

iCloud isn't an OS feature. iCloud is part of the OS and will become the future of it. iCloud will deliver Mac and iOS users a rubber-clad walled garden they want to be inside - a private place of peace surrounded by a bomb-proof security cordon.

This year, developers will see Apple explain the new things they can do when building iCloud support into their apps. For example, all your documents will be kept secure, sync will enable all manner of interesting app enhancements. As is usual with Apple, expect improvements to be incremental.

    Hardware

Recent reports have claimed Apple intends to introduce an upgraded MacBook Pro models starting in May, with a smaller lighter model to ship in June. Will this be called the MacBook Pro (Air?) as well?

Optical Drive manufacturers may be left in the dark as the company "Intel" has already put its muscle behind Ultrabooks, meaning that the optical drive is being brought out across to Mac and PC.

The new breeds of Ultrabooks from many PC vendors/manufacturers are beginning to ship makes Apple more likely to want to gather global media attention from WWDC towards its MacBook Air range. This makes it more likely the company may upgrade that range at or after WWDC.
