In my last post I talked about the possibility of Apple's iPhone 5 implementing an 8-pin dock connector. Well we should be able to know for sure on (or around the date) September 12. Apple is expected to hold a special event on the week of September 12. We are presuming that this might be the event for the long-awaited iOS device - the Next Gen iPhone 5.


iMore was the first to report that Apple will hold an event on September 12, and AllThingsD has sort of "confirmed" with anonymous sources that Apple will be planning an event for that week, ahead of a September 21 release date. I would sort of guess that Apple is thinking that by announcing the next gen iPhone in October, was "a bit late".. for them as the "competition - Samsung", has already 'wowed' consumers with its current (and the most anticipated smartphone of 2012) flagship phone - the Samsung Galaxy S3 and that Apple may be losing out on sales if it waited for another month!

More notably, iLounge also reported earlier that the iPad mini will not be ready to ship at the same time as the new iPhone will, and so there may be another "separate" event for that. Also the fifth-generation iPod touch may also be in the works at the same event as the new iPhone.
