On July 21 here in NZ, Samsung had sent out a "Save the Date" message to the press, addressing a mystery major event on the 'Galaxy' lineup, planned to be on August 15 at 10AM EST (3AM NZ Time; most people in NZ would be in bed then..).
The message says:
SAVE THE DATE
August 15, 2012
10:00AM EST
Please join Samsung Electronics America for a major announcement and unveiling of the newest GALAXY
device. An exclusive press conference will take place where full details will be disclosed.
An invitation with details will follow soon.

Hmm, what can it be? Could it be the Samsung Galaxy Note 2? It says it is not a 'phone', but the Galaxy Note is half tablet and half phone.. so... hmmm. And anyway, the Note 2 was rumored to be announced at the IFA 2012 expo around the end of August, so I don't think it will be.
Also, 9to5Google has spotted, the invite came from Samsung Electronics America, not Samsung Telecommunications America, which usually handles mobile phones announcements etc.
