[News] What devices will get Android 4.1 Jelly Bean?

Jelly Bean Android 4.1
It has just been over one month since the official announcement of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The mobile operating system's source code has been released a couple of weeks back already, so it makes sense for us to believe that "Jelly Bean" updates should be following? Well we have a list (quite a short one though as not many manufacturers have confirmed with the media..) of smartphones officially confirmed to receive the new Jelly Bean update and another list of those that we assume will get the update.

But before we get down to the list, don't get your hopes up too high on thinking that the Jelly Bean update will come right up to your doorstep tomorrow morning ready for your device! As we all know, the road from an OS update becoming open source to it actually hitting the most popular devices around is a very bumpy one! So no wonder the list of devices that are confirmed on getting Jelly Bean, is quite small. No timeframe has also been given as of yet.

The only devices that are already running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean are the three Nexus devices: Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 7 tablet, and the most recent one to receive it - Nexus S.

Devices Officially Confirmed to Receive Android Jelly Bean 4.1 Update:

  • Motorola Xoom
  • HTC One X, One S, One XL
  • Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Asus Eee Pad Slider, Asus Transformer Pad, Asus Transformer Prime, Asus Transformer Pad Infinity
Are you serious? You may ask.. Is this what I would have thought one month ago? These devices? To be the first confirmed to receive a fresh high-end update? No Way! Well maybe for the HTC lineup was more expected because HTC are usually one of the fastest at releasing OSes for their Android lineup, but the Transformer, Slider and Xoom tablets were definitely not expected here!

Devices That Are Most Likely to Receive Android 4.1 Update:

  • Samsung Galaxy S3, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note, Galaxy Tab 10.1
  • HTC Evo 4G LTE, Droid Incredible 4G LTE
  • Motorola Droid RAZR, RAZR Maxx
  • LG Optimus Vu, LG Optimus 4X HD
  • Sony Xperia S, Sony Tablet S, Sony Tablet P
  • Acer Iconia Tab A100, A200, A500, A700
  • Toshiba AT200 Excite 10 LE and AT300 Excite 10
....... And a few more that are not listed in this list above!

These devices that are most likely to get Jelly Bean should get it before the end of the year, is what I presume. We have heard speculations that Samsung is very close to rolling out JB for the Galaxy S2 and S3, while Acer's and Sony's plans can be speculated on how fast they released ICS for their devices.

We will have to find out in the coming months if our speculations are correct, but at the time-being, what devices do you think will receive the new Jelly Bean update? Let us know in the comments below!
