[Review] Pre-Review HTC One X

Everyone must be waiting for this new shiny device, the HTC One X to come out in NZ? This device is HTC's flagship smartphone for this year. This device is just one of the 'One' series brought to you by HTC. Well we bring you an "on-lookers" (see it as in specs, not actually having a test model) review on this bad-boy!

 Hardware
  
The company has sure stepped up its game with the One X - it is better looking than any other device announced by the company in 2011.


It shows a 4.7 inch display with a sheet of glass that also drapes the Android capacitive buttons. In other specifics, the One X has a volume rocker on the right, micro-USB port on the other side. Microphone is on the bottom with another secondary microphone on the top, along with a power button and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
One thing that displeased me about was the lack of a dedicated camera button.

Overall this phone looks a lot smoother phone to hold compared with some of the new Sony Xperia phones which have a rectangular shape and sharp edges.

 Display

What this phone pleases me about is it's amazing 4.7 inch 1280 x 720 SLCD screen. This screen is, I think one of the best you can get in the market right now. I wouldn't call it perfect, but certainly a great step towards 'perfect'.

 Camera

The One X comes with a wide f2.0 aperture, which helps capturing great images even in low-light conditions, (the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc only had a f2.3 aperture) while the dedicated imaging chip processor for the phone's camera needs, help it be the quickest cameraphone available in the market! HTC had introduced a all-new burst mode in One series of smartphones, which allows us to take 4 shots per second!! That is fast! And it also lessens the chance of missing that 'amazing moment'!

There are several manual settings like ISO, white balance, exposure levels that you can play with.

 Software

You will be greeted with Android's 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich OS along with the company's revamped version of Sense 4.0. Both which are a refreshing upgrade from the previous versions.

 Performance

Thanks to the 1.5GHz Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor and the 1GB RAM inside One X, it should perform exceptionally well in day-to-day tasks. There should be absolutely no lag whatsoever when browsing judging by the specs.

 Battery Life

The battery life is always the most important essential for a great smartphone. Because of its awesome display and quad-core processor, the 1800mAh battery should last just about a day with heavy-use.

 Conclusion 

The One X phone looks to do well in the NZ market. It's quad-core processor combined with Android 4.0 is excellent goodness. When it comes out here in NZ, it may be one of the best Android smartphone available.
